Bailey will get some long, hard looks, but I think he will spend another season in the O. I think the Isles are bringing along enough rookies as it is.

I think what is really crappy about this is that Snow waited until their was NO jobs left in the NHL. I think that Nolan is a great coach but the stigma hes gathered over his past two stints will probably have him blackballed from the NHL in the future and that is a huge shame. What a mess.

Absolutely. Snow has no credibility. That's the part that is so frustrating to Islanders fans. The guy was basically handed this job out of the goodness of Charles Wang's heart for reasons only Jesus knows. Now he's making rash decisions with no track record to support him. It's a disaster.

I basically agree with your analysis here, Nolan did a lot with a little. But reading some of the coverage of this debacle really highlighted the deep conflict between Snow and Nolan. I assume most Islander fans would rather have seen the backup goalie... er rather the GM get canned?

Nolan in Long Island and Nolan in Buffalo are the same story with the players as well... Nolan vs. Hasek, now Nolan vs. DiPietro. Hopefully he won't have to wait another 8 years to get another job

What a shame! Nolan got ridden out of Buffalo in similar fashion...his fatal flaw is an inability to cowtow to what management and high-priced players want. Don't have much hope for this team this year.

Agree wholeheartedly. Maurice would be a nice fit, but anyone honestly think Snow will make the right choice here? Very disheartening day for Isles nation.

I saw this a minute ago... utter joke. Nolan is one of the best coaches in the NHL. I can't think of anyone who would've gotten 20 wins out of that Isles unit last year, and Nolan, barring all those injuries, nearly coached them into the playoffs.

A day of mourning for Isles fans...
